Marking the start of the New Year, the prices of petroleum products are expected to be reduced by up to Rs 10.60 per liter.
The draft working papers on the proposed price cuts for petroleum products have been prepared.
According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, it has been proposed that petrol prices be reduced by Rs 10.60 per liter from January 1.
Similarly, high-speed diesel prices are expected to decrease by Rs 8.59 per liter, kerosene oil by Rs 9 per liter, and light diesel oil by Rs 6.62 per liter.
OGRA will send the working papers to the government, which will make a decision after considering revenue requirements.
The Ministry of Finance will finalize the decision after approval from the Prime Minister, and the official notification will be issued by the Ministry of Petroleum. If the government does not impose additional taxes or levies, the public is expected to receive relief in the New Year.
