PPP to approach court over alleged AJK poll rigging

President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Yasin, has alleged that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was involved in massive rigging during the elections in the region, claiming that the electoral process was manipulated to benefit the ruling party.

Speaking to the media at the National Press Club ahead of the third round of the AJK polls, Yasin questioned the role of the Election Commission and the government, alleging that the authorities had failed to ensure a transparent and impartial electoral process.

Yasin claimed that electoral procedures were compromised in favour of the PML-N and expressed concerns over the credibility of the election process. He said the PPP would not remain silent over what he described as irregularities and violations during the polls.

He further announced that his party would challenge the alleged rigging and electoral violations before the courts of law and seek judicial investigations into the matter.

The PPP leader maintained that all stakeholders should ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process, stressing that the people of AJK have the right to a free, fair and credible election.

Yasin said the PPP would continue to pursue the matter through legal and constitutional channels and would take all necessary steps to protect what it considers the legitimate electoral rights of its candidates and voters.
