LAHORE: The Punjab government has implemented a prohibition on the use of mobile phones by both teachers and students in all government and private educational institutions throughout the province, effective Tuesday.
The decision by the Punjab School Education Department was prompted by numerous complaints regarding the time wasted due to teachers' frequent mobile phone usage.
A senior official indicated that the recording and sharing of videos on social media by students and teachers was leading to more significant issues.
Additionally, the government has mandated that teachers wear coats, appropriate footwear, and wristwatches during school hours.
The school department has issued 20 directives to the chief executive officers of all district education authorities.
The official noted that these guidelines were formulated by the education ministry to promote discipline and the well-being of students. All teachers are required to submit their mobile phones to the administration offices.
In the event of a breach of this ban, phones will be confiscated, and departmental action will be initiated. Teachers and students are also required to display their school badges and identification cards.
