KARACHI: An official of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was shot at and wounded by the son of a former senior police officer in Clifton over road rage.
According to the Dialogue Pakistan report, the son of a former SP, Aga Shaheer, severely injured FBR Inspector Shamir Khan Lashari by firing at him and fled the scene.
The South Police are conducting raids across Sindh to arrest the suspect. According to the police, the official vehicle of the suspect has been recovered from Shikarpur, but the suspect has not been apprehended yet.
Shamir Khan's cousin Mukhtiar said they had gone out for dinner with his brother. They were near the Ocean Mall. The car involved was theirs, and the other car belonged to Shaheed Khan Pathan, Aga Shaheed.
There was a minor collision, which caused slight damage to both vehicles. Then, the gunman got out and misbehaved.
As usual, there was a confrontation, and things escalated. Aga Shaheer, the former SP’s son, got involved and started attacking with a baton.
The situation quickly got worse, and soon he pulled out a gun and started firing. Shahzaib, the brother, tried to intervene and calm things down. Shamir too tried to reason, saying that some damage had occurred, but they should talk it over, Mukhtiar added.
"In the meantime, the police vehicle, which was part of some government protocol, arrived. It seemed that there was an officer with a gun. The investigation is still ongoing, and the details will come out in time."
"The clash escalated further, with both gunmen involved in the firing. The two were trying to calm things down, but the situation spiralled out of control. It’s unfortunate that when you have the government and uniform on your side, things tend to go this way."
In our country, law-abiding citizens are often seen as naive or weak. This was taken advantage of, and the bullets were fired at our brother.
We say Karachi is a safe city, with cameras and everything, but why do the people in uniform violate the law? Either they see ordinary citizens like insects, or they just don’t care.
