In a tragic accident near the Mauripur truck stand, a coaster carrying picnickers overturned, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals, including three children and three women.
The coaster van was en route to Hawkes Bay for a picnic when it overturned near the new truck stand of Mauripur, according to rescue sources. The accident claimed the lives of three children and three women on the spot, while four others succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. Rescue workers reported that several others were injured in the mishap.
Rescue officials, police, and local residents swiftly arrived at the scene to extricate the deceased and injured from the vehicle, subsequently transferring them to the civil hospital.
Police officials stated that the coaster collided with a trailer that suddenly emerged from a side street. The trailer driver fled the scene, but the vehicle has been impounded. An eyewitness mentioned that the high-speed coaster hit the footpath after colliding with the trailer.
The coaster was carrying 40 to 45 passengers, with the affected family members residing in Azizabad, according to the police.
The deceased have been identified as Sakeen (6 years old), Zeenar (4 years old), Kinza (10 years old), Qadeer (14 years old), Sughra (40 years old), Saadia (45 years old), and an unidentified woman. Several injured passengers are reported to be in critical condition.
