Senior Superintendent Police in Sukkur named Amjad Sheikh is accused of abducting and killing an 18-year-old boy who filed a writ petition in the Sindh High Court against the police.

On the night of November 30th, Zangejo and his sister were reportedly abducted from Ranipur while traveling from Karachi to Sukkur.

The teenager had previously filed a petition seeking the release of his father, who he claimed was unlawfully detained by the police.

The victim was murdered in an alleged staged encounter, where he was allegedly dragged to his death. After his death, the police refused to release his sister, prompting locals to protest against her abduction.

Videos circulating online captured scenes of police vans recklessly driving through a crowd of protesters, injuring several individuals.

According to reports, the police accused Zangejo of involvement in a theft worth Rs 18,00,000. However, the deceased was known for creating TikTok videos criticising the police and was the sole male sibling among three sisters.

To escape police harassment, the Zangejo family had relocated to Karachi. They returned to Sukkur to care for their ailing father and planned to move him to Karachi.

The police confiscated my brother's National Identity Card and phone," the sister stated. She added that the driver was intimidated and threatened to remain silent about the abduction.

The woman claimed she was taken to multiple police stations, where she faced threats of death and she was threatened with being brought before SSP Amjad Sheikh.

She further stated that while being transported to another police station, local residents protested for her release. It was due to these protests that she was released without being harmed.

She revealed that she was initially misled by the police, who claimed her brother was imprisoned rather than killed.

The woman disclosed that her brother had sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and legs and bore marks of chains and ropes on his body. She added that the police had also fired upon and shelled protesters.

She further revealed that her father had been subjected to harassment and false accusations since 2000, leading to severe mental distress. He was detained for a month, prompting Zangejo to file a petition for his release.

Zangejo’s mother expressed her grief, stating that she was preparing for her son’s wedding. She said that her son was not a terrorist and  he had come to Sukkur to celebrate cultural day.
