Two die of electrocution as rain lashes parts of Karachi

Two people died of electrocution on Saturday as light to moderate rain lashed parts of Karachi.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the downpours hit Paposh Nagar, Kemari, Maripur, Korangi, Quaidabad, Orangi town, DHA, Clifton, Saddar, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshane-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Hadeed and several other areas.
The 10-minute heavy rain disrupted daily life in several parts of the metropolis and left many thoroughfares flooded.
The rain-related incidents also occurred in Landhi and Metroville areas of the port city.
The hospital and rescue services officials said that a 55-year-old man died due to electrocution in Landhi area of Karachi.
An 11-year-old Haroon also died from electrocution in Karachi's Site area, they added.
On the other hand, light rain is also expected to hit several areas of the megapolis at night.
However, the weather will remain hot and humid during the next 24 hours, the Met office said.
