Karachi has seen a sharp rise in kidnapping cases in recent days, with children increasingly becoming victims. The latest cases involve a 15-year-old girl from Gulshan-e-Iqbal and a 10-year-old boy from Orangi Town, both of whom are still missing.
While the police have successfully located and returned two missing children to their families, concerns over child safety continue to grow.
15-year-old Zahra Batool was reported missing from Gulshan-e-Iqbal on January 17. The police registered a case on a complaint filed by her father. On the same day, 10-year-old Ayan disappeared from Orangi Town.
In another incident, 14-year-old Mubashir, who had gone missing from Orangi Town's Frontier Colony, was found in Agra Taj Colony.
According to his family, they received a call from an unknown number informing them of Mubashir’s location. Upon reaching the area, they found him safe. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, a 4-year-old girl who had gone missing from the jurisdiction of Sir Syed police station was also recovered. She had disappeared in the morning while playing outside her house with her brother.
A few days earlier, 5-year-old Aliyan, also known as Ali, and 6-year-old Ali Raza were reported missing from Garden West.
In connection with their case, the police detained 19 suspects and claimed to have collected solid evidence.
Deputy Inspector General South Syed Asad Raza stated that CCTV footage revealed the children were taken by a man and a woman riding a motorcycle.
In a separate incident, the body of 7-year-old Sarim, who had been missing for 11 days, was recovered on January 18 from an underground water tank near his house in North Karachi.
A police officer later confirmed that Sarim, a resident of North Karachi, had been sexually assaulted before his death.
