Two-year-old killed as speeding trailer hits motorcycle on Hawksbay Road

A tragic road accident on Hawksbay Road near the old Mauripur stop claimed the life of a two-year-old child, while his parents sustained injuries after a speeding trailer collided with their motorcycle.

Police have taken the trailer into custody and arrested the driver.

According to reports, the incident occurred within the limits of the Mauripur police station when a fast-moving trailer struck a motorcycle carrying a family. As a result, a minor child died on the spot, while his parents were injured.

The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital by Edhi Ambulance for medical treatment.

The deceased child was identified as two-year-old Hammad, while the injured parents were named as 30-year-old Danish and his 25-year-old wife, Zainab.

Family members stated that the motorcycle was carrying four people at the time of the accident — the parents and their two children. The two-year-old boy lost his life, the mother was injured, while the father and the four-year-old daughter remained safe.

The affected family is a resident of Khadda Market and originally hails from Ranipur. Relatives said the family was returning home to Musharraf Colony after offering Niaz when the accident occurred.

Mauripur police confirmed that upon receiving information about the accident, officers rushed to the scene and took immediate action.

The trailer was seized and the driver, identified as Ejaz Ali son of Ahmed Ali, was arrested. Further legal proceedings are under way.

Grieving family members have appealed to the government for justice, questioning how long innocent children will continue to fall victim to accidents involving heavy vehicles on the city’s roads.
