US man pays $270,000 to hunt Kashmiri Markhor in Chitral

A US national has successfully hunted a Kashmiri markhor in Chitral under strict supervision by the wildlife authorities.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department, the hunt was carried out in accordance with trophy hunting regulations.
The American hunter obtained the official trophy hunting permit for $270,000, which amounts to approximately Rs75.6 million in Pakistani currency.
Wildlife officials said the prized Kashmiri markhor, with 52-inch horns, was taken down from a distance of 510 metres.
The department added that the hunter requested anonymity.
As per government policy, 80 per cent of the revenue generated from trophy hunting will be allocated to the welfare and development of the local community.
