Pakistan has called up left-arm pacer Akif Javed as a replacement for Haris Rauf in the ongoing tri-nation ODI series against South Africa and New Zealand.
The inclusion of Javed comes after Rauf sustained a muscular sprain in his lower chest during Saturday’s match against New Zealand.
Akif, who has 169 wickets across various formats in his career, will join the national squad for the remainder of the series.
He has played 23 first-class, 30 List-A, and 68 T20 matches. The fast bowler is known for his consistent performances, including a five-wicket haul.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Rauf’s injury, though not serious, has prompted a precautionary rest for the upcoming matches.

Following MRI and X-ray scans, PCB officials reassured that Rauf is expected to fully recover in time for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan will host from February 19 to March 9.
As part of his rehabilitation, Rauf will miss the February 12 match against South Africa.
Pakistan will face South Africa in their final group match of the tri-nation series on Wednesday, aiming to secure a place in the final alongside New Zealand.
The complete Pakistan squad for the series and Champions Trophy 2025 includes Mohammad Rizwan (captain), Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and others.
