Pakistan’s star javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, secured the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship with an impressive throw of 85.40 meters.

Competing against some of Asia’s best athletes, Nadeem once again proved his dominance in the field by topping the podium and bringing pride to the nation.

Celebrations swept through Nadeem's hometown in Mian Channu. His mother shared that she and the entire nation had prayed fervently for his success.

In a stellar performance at the Asian Athletics Championships held in South Korea, he clinched country’s first athletics gold in over five decades.

Arshad began strong with a throw of 75.64 meters in his first attempt, improving to 76.80 meters in the second. He then stunned the field with an 85.57-meter throw in the third round, followed by 83.99 meters in the fourth.

Saving the best for last, he secured his lead with a final throw of 86.40 meters, sealing the top spot on the podium.

India’s Sachin Yadav claimed silver with a best throw of 85.16 meters, while Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama took bronze with a mark of 83.75 meters.

Earlier in the competition, Pakistan’s Yasir Sultan showed promising form, throwing 70.53 meters in the first round, 75.39 meters in the second, and 75.50 meters in the third.

This victory marks Pakistan’s first gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships since 1973. At the games held in the Philippines that year, Pakistan had won two gold medals Allah Dada in javelin throw and Muhammad Younis in the 800-meter race. 

Arshad Nadeem now becomes the first Pakistani in over 50 years to be crowned Asian javelin champion, bringing immense pride and historic glory to the nation.

Earlier, Pakistan's Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, qualified for the Asian Athletics Championships final in South Korea. Yasir Sultan also secured his spot in the final with a strong throw.

In Group A of the men’s javelin throw qualifying round, Arshad Nadeem registered an impressive throw of 86.34 meters on his very first attempt, securing his place in the final. His throw was the longest in the qualifying round.

Meanwhile, Indian athlete Yash also performed well, throwing 76.67 meters on his first attempt.

Following Arshad’s qualification, Pakistan’s Yasir Sultan also advanced to the final with a strong opening throw of 76.07 meters.
