Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam on Sunday equalled India’s Virat Kohli’s record for the most half-centuries in T20 International cricket during the tri-series match against Zimbabwe at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Babar brought up his 38th T20I fifty in the 14th over, reaching the milestone off 43 balls with four boundaries. With this achievement, he now shares the top spot with Kohli, who reached the same mark in 117 innings, while Babar matched it in 127.

Batting first, Pakistan posted 195-5 in their allotted overs, largely owing to the contributions of Sahibzada Farhan and Babar. The pair added a solid 103-run partnership after the early dismissal of Saim Ayub in the second over.

Farhan led the charge with an aggressive 63 off 41 balls, hitting three sixes and four fours. Babar played a steady hand, scoring 74 off 52 deliveries, including two sixes and seven boundaries.

Fakhar Zaman provided late acceleration with a rapid 27 from 10 balls, smashing three sixes in the final over to push Pakistan close to the 200-run mark.

For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets in his four overs.

Babar, who already holds the record for the most runs in T20I cricket, has now accumulated 4,392 runs in 134 matches, including 38 fifties and three centuries.
