Babar Azam likely to return for second Test against England

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is likely to return to the playing XI for the second Test against England, which begins at Lord’s on August 27.

Babar missed the opening Test of the series after suffering an injury during a practice match. The team management is considering several changes to the playing XI, including Babar’s return, but the final combination will be decided after assessing the pitch and playing conditions.

If Babar receives fitness clearance, Azan Awais could make way for him. The team management is also considering resting wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan for the second Test.

Pakistan could field two spinners if the Lord’s pitch is dry and expected to assist spin. Fast bowler Ubaid Shah is also among the contenders for a place in the playing XI.

England took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after defeating Pakistan by an innings in the first Test.

Pakistan must win the Lord’s Test to level the series and keep their hopes of securing a series victory alive.
