Chasing a challenging target of 352, Australia’s Josh Inglis delivered a match-winning performance, scoring an unbeaten 120 to steer his team to victory.
England, batting first, posted a formidable total of 351 for 8 in their 50 overs, thanks to a career-best 165 from Ben Duckett.
The 30-year-old left-hander, who missed out on England’s recent T20 campaign, showcased his class with a composed innings that included 17 boundaries and three sixes off 143 balls.
Duckett built crucial partnerships, adding 158 runs with Joe Root (68) and 61 runs with captain Jos Buttler, who contributed a brisk 23 off 21 deliveries.
Despite losing two early wickets in the powerplay, Duckett’s resilience stabilized England’s innings. His dismissal in the 48th over was followed by a quickfire 21 not out off 10 balls from Jofra Archer, propelling England to their final total.
