In a surprising turn of events at a Lahore match between Australia and England, the Indian national anthem was played during the live broadcast, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to seek clarification from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
According to sources, the ICC had created the playlist for the Champions Trophy and despite India’s non-participation in the tournament hosted by Pakistan, their anthem was mistakenly included.
The error occurred just moments before the match, replacing the expected anthem for Australia.
PCB officials have expressed dissatisfaction with the ICC’s explanation of a technical glitch, demanding a detailed account of how the mistake happened.
They emphasised that managing all aspects of the tournament’s broadcast falls under the ICC’s purview, and such errors must be prevented in the future.
