ICC says BCCI cannot remove Pakistan's name from Champions Trophy jersey

The International Cricket Council (ICC) firmly refuted reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chose to exclude the name of the host country, Pakistan, from their jerseys for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.

According to sources, the ICC outlined clear requirements for participating teams to display the tournament’s official logo on their kits, which includes the name of the host nation.

“It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule,” Geo Super quoted sources privy to the matter. 

The ICC statement came after BCCI had reportedly refused to wear jerseys featuring the host nation’s name. The decision of the BCCI frustrated Pakistan, which was seeking the ICC's intervention in the matter. 

However, the ICC came with the clear stance that any team failing to display the official logo on their jerseys would be dealt with strict action.

Traditionally, it is common practice for every team participating in ICC tournaments to feature the host nation’s name as part of the tournament branding, even if the matches are held at different locations.

However, Pakistan dismissed India’s claims while terming them as “baseless” and confirmed that no official from PCB talked about this with BCCI or any other news agency in India.

According to the schedule issued by the ICC, the tournament would comprise 15 matches. The matches would be played across three venues, including Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

However, India’s matches will be played in Dubai, as the team had refused to come to Pakistan.
