India has restricted access to the Instagram account of Pakistani Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, in what appears to be part of a broader move targeting digital content from Pakistan.
The action follows a recommendation from India’s Ministry of Home Affairs to curb the online presence of Pakistani figures, which recently resulted in the blocking of 16 YouTube channels operated by Pakistani individuals, including former cricketers Rashid Latif, Shoaib Akhtar, and Basit Ali.
The ban on Nadeem’s account comes amid growing diplomatic tensions following the Pahalgam incident in IIOJK. Analysts suggest the restriction may be politically motivated, aimed at limiting alternative narratives and discouraging cross-border sports engagement.

Reports also indicate that Nadeem had earlier declined an invitation to compete in a javelin event in India, extended by Indian Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra.
