Birmingham: India secured a comprehensive 64-run victory over Pakistan in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Group 1 encounter after defending a total of 170.

Chasing a target of 171, Pakistan were bowled out for 106, falling well short of the required score.

After winning the toss, India elected to bat first and posted 170 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana led the scoring with an impressive 68-run innings, while Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 36 runs. Richa Ghosh provided late impetus with a brisk 34 off 17 deliveries.

For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal was the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets.

In reply, Pakistan struggled to build momentum and were eventually dismissed for 106, handing India a comfortable 64-run win.

Prior to the match, attention was also drawn to the toss ceremony, where the Indian captain did not shake hands with her Pakistani counterpart. Following the toss, she proceeded directly to the dressing room after completing her broadcast interview.
