The cause of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan's death has been officially revealed. The 71-year-old athlete passed away in Florida on July 24.
According to official medical records released on Thursday, Hogan died of acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack.
The athlete, whose real name was Terry Bollea, had also been living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a type of blood cancer that affects white blood cells known as lymphocytes.
Additionally, he had a prior diagnosis of atrial fibrillation, a heart condition characterised by an irregular and often rapid heartbeat.
The Pinellas County Forensic Science Center confirmed details of Hogan’s cremation process, noting that a request for cremation approval had been received, though a date had not yet been confirmed.

Hogan’s health issues were largely kept out of the public eye, but close friends have since shared insights into his final days. Eric Bischoff, a longtime friend and wrestling executive, spoke about his last meeting with Hogan on his 83 Weeks podcast.
“He seemed weak and tired,” Bischoff recalled. “He told me he really wanted to see me but was embarrassed because he had been very sick.”
“It took effort for him to carry on a conversation, but he was still the same person at heart.”
Earlier this week, Brooke Hogan, the wrestler’s daughter, posted a tribute on social media reflecting on their complex relationship and remembering her father.
Hogan was one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling, achieving international fame in the 1980s and 1990s.
