Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq faced a testing moment during the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) player auction when his son, Faham-ul-Haq, went unsold while he was part of the Peshawar Zalmi selection panel.

Faham, a left-handed batting all-rounder in his early 20s, entered the auction with a base price of Rs6 million.

Despite featuring in Pakistan’s domestic circuit, including fifties in the President’s Trophy Grade-II and appearances in first-class competitions, he did not attract a bid from any of the eight franchises.

Speaking after the auction, Misbah said the situation was emotionally challenging but stressed that selections must be based on merit.

“It is very difficult for a parent… to watch everything unfold. At that moment, you try to stay neutral and avoid making decisions based on emotions,” he said.

He added that opportunities in cricket come through performance and that he did not intervene on his son’s behalf.

Faham’s domestic participation had previously drawn debate regarding eligibility rules in Grade-II competitions.

Critics had questioned whether favoritism played a role, allegations Misbah has consistently denied.

The PSL 2026 auction, held in Lahore on February 11, marked the league’s expansion to eight teams.
