Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan has made history by equaling the record for the most catches in a single One Day International (ODI) match during the second ODI against Australia on Friday.
Rizwan demonstrated his outstanding capabilities behind the wickets by securing six catches during the game, a milestone that places him alongside cricket greats such as Adam Gilchrist, Mark Boucher, Alec Stewart, Matt Prior, Jos Buttler, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Quinton de Kock, and Matthew Cross, all of whom have also achieved six catches in an ODI.
If Rizwan had not missed a catch off Adam Zampa’s bat, he might have set a new world record for the highest number of catches in a single match. Regardless, his performance was still a significant highlight for Pakistan in the game.
In the second ODI, Pakistan found themselves in a strong position after deciding to bowl first.
The Australian batting order was thoroughly dismantled by the bowlers from Pakistan, with right-arm pacer Haris Rauf leading the way. Rauf secured his second five-wicket haul in ODIs, which helped limit Australia to just 163 runs in 35 overs.
