Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf’s comments on a live television programme have drawn criticism from cricket fans and analysts after he mispronounced the name of India’s T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav.

While speaking on a sports show, Yousuf referred to the Indian captain as “Suwarkumar.” The host corrected him, but Yousuf repeated the same name, leading to backlash on social media.

During the discussion on the Pakistan–India clash, the former batter said that India attempted to influence match outcomes. “India should be ashamed of the way they try to win by colluding with the umpires or by exerting pressure through the referee,” he remarked.

An Indian cricket website claimed that the ICC had turned down Pakistan’s request to replace Andy Pycroft as referee for the Pakistan-India match.

The ICC reportedly notified the PCB of this decision last night.

Pakistan had made the request to the ICC following the “handshake incident” during the September 15 match against India and had warned that it would not play further Asia Cup matches if the referee was not replaced.
