Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that Indian players repeatedly tried to provoke Pakistani players during the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup.
He added that the matter will be taken up with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Speaking to the media in Islamabad at a reception hosted by the Prime Minister in honour of the Asian Under-19 champion team, Mohsin Naqvi said politics and sports should be kept separate.
“Indian players again tried to provoke our players. We are informing the ICC about this,” he said.
Pakistan Under-19 team mentor Sarfaraz Ahmed also criticised the behaviour of the Indian team, saying their conduct was not in line with the spirit of the game.
“The Indian team showed an unsporting attitude. We celebrated our victory with sportsmanship. Our team played excellent cricket and showed strong teamwork,” Sarfaraz said.
He stressed that respect and ethics should always come first in cricket, alongside competition.
It may be recalled that Pakistan defeated India by a huge margin of 191 runs in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup final, played in Dubai on Sunday.
Pakistan’s victory was led by an outstanding batting performance from Sameer Minhas, which helped the team lift the trophy.
