Archrivals India and Pakistan have once again been placed in the same group for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday while unveiling the tournament schedule.
The highly anticipated clash between the two neighbours—arguably the biggest box-office fixture in world cricket—will take place on February 15 in Colombo, where the Group ‘A’ match is expected to draw global attention.
The group also includes Namibia, Netherlands and the USA.
The 2026 T20 World Cup will run from February 7 to March 8, hosted across eight venues: five in India and three in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan will play all their group-stage matches in Sri Lanka, and if the team fails to qualify for the final, the title decider will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The event will follow the same format as the 2024 edition. The top two teams from each of the four groups will move into the Super Eight stage, after which the top four will advance to the semi-finals.
Alongside hosts India and Sri Lanka, the 20-team tournament will feature:
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the United States, West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Oman and the UAE.
