Pakistan clinched the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 title on Sunday with a 43-run victory over Kuwait in the final held at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok.

Batting first, Pakistan put up a formidable total of 135 for three in six overs. Opener Abdul Samad set the tone with a rapid 42 off 13 balls, while captain Abbas Afridi dominated the innings with an explosive 52 from just 11 deliveries.

Kuwait, chasing a steep target, managed 92 in 5.1 overs. Left-arm spinner Maaz Sadaqat played a decisive role in the defense, claiming three wickets to halt the opposition’s progress.

Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan began its campaign with a four-wicket win over Kuwait but stumbled in its next outing, losing to India by two runs under the DLS method. The team bounced back strongly, defeating South Africa by five wickets in the quarterfinals and edging Australia by a single run in a tense semifinal to secure a place in the final.

The triumph marked Pakistan’s sixth title at the Hong Kong Sixes.

Kuwait impressed throughout the event as well, registering wins over India, Afghanistan and England to reach the final. In contrast, India’s campaign unraveled after its opening win against Pakistan. It went on to suffer consecutive losses to Kuwait, the UAE, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the team and the entire nation on winning the title.

"A fantastic display of skill, passion, and teamwork truly showcasing Pakistan’s cricketing spirit at its best," he wrote.
