Pakistan qualify for U-18 Asia Cup Semi-Finals

Pakistan secured a place in the semi-finals of the U-18 Hockey Asia Cup 2026 in Japan after producing an impressive performance to defeat Bangladesh 5-2 in a crucial group-stage encounter.
In the match played in Kakamigahara, Pakistan adopted an attacking approach from the outset and maintained control throughout much of the contest. Abdullah scored twice for Pakistan, while Adeel, Asam and Muhammad Yahya each added a goal to complete a commanding victory.
For Bangladesh, Tarek Islam and Monna Islam scored one goal apiece. Pakistan’s Muhammad Yahya was named Player of the Match in recognition of his outstanding performance.
Pakistan’s forwards made the most of their scoring opportunities, while the midfield and defence also delivered a disciplined display, enabling the team to maintain a firm grip on the game for extended periods.
With this victory, Pakistan have not only secured a place in the semi-finals but have also reinforced their credentials as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders.
Pakistan will now face their traditional rivals, India, in the semi-final on 5 June.
Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, congratulated the team and management on their achievement, stating that the victory was the result of the players’, coaches’ and support staff’s hard work and dedication.
He expressed confidence that the junior side would carry its momentum into the semi-final, secure a place in the final, and further strengthen the foundations of a bright future for Pakistani hockey.
