In a remarkable achievement, Pakistani athlete Mahnoor Ali secured the Danish Junior Squash Championship title by defeating her sister, Sehrish Ali, in the Girls under-13 category in three straight games on Sunday.

Ranked as Asia's number 1 in the Under-13 squash category, Mahnoor dominated her sister with an impressive 11-3, 11-3, 11-2 victory in three consecutive sets.

In the semi-finals, the 11-year-old defeated Bulgaria’s Bozhana Bozhilova 11-3, 11-4, 11-0, while Sehrish earned her place in the final by overcoming Poland’s Hania Górecka 11-4, 16-14, 11-7.

Mahnoor had also faced Górecka earlier in the tournament, defeating her in the third round and remaining undefeated throughout the competition before claiming the championship title.

Their elder sister, Mehwish Ali, secured third place in the Under-17 category after defeating Ruby Huisman of the Netherlands 11-4, 11-7, 11-8.

All three sisters showcased exceptional talent, earning medals at the international event, making their family and country proud, and signalling a revival of Pakistan’s once-glorious legacy in squash.

This is not the first time the Ali sisters have made their mark on the international stage.

In June 2024, Mahnoor triumphed at the PBA 20th Penang Malaysia Junior Open, while in April, she claimed the top spot at the Australian Junior Open, where Mehwish also clinched the Under-17 title.

Previously, Pakistan’s Muhammad Asim Khan secured his first Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour title on Saturday by defeating England’s top athlete, Nick Wall, in the Charlottesville Open final.

The 27-year-old, who had a slow start and lost the opening game 12-14, made a stunning comeback in the last three games, defeating Mexico’s Cesar Salazar 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 to reach the final and ultimately secure the championship.
