Pakistan has announced its playing XI for the first match of the three-match ODI series in Australia, set to take place on Monday in Melbourne.
The squad includes Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan (Captain and Wicketkeeper), Kamran Ghulam, Salman Ali Agha (Vice-Captain), Muhammad Irfan Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Muhammad Hasnain.
Captain Muhammad Rizwan, leading Pakistan for the first time, expressed confidence in the team, highlighting the contributions of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah.
“All 15 members of the team are leaders. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq have also delivered match-winning performances,” Rizwan stated.
He added that introducing young players is part of the team’s strategy to build a strong backup lineup.
Vice-captain Salman Ali Agha also shared his enthusiasm for the series, stating, “We are very excited for the series.”
Historically, Pakistan has struggled against Australia on their home turf, winning only one ODI series there. Out of 104 ODIs between the two teams, Australia has won 70.
The series opener will be held at Melbourne, with the second ODI scheduled in Adelaide on November 8 and the final match in Perth on November 10. All matches are set to start at 8:30 AM Pakistan Standard Time.
