Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is mulling to appoint former South African batter Gary Kirsten or ex-Australian baseman Justin Langer for the role of national cricket team's head coach, sources said on Friday.
The consideration came after Shane Watson and Darren Sammy refused the cricket body's offer for the top post.
According to sources, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is in favour of a coach who could work with Pakistan for the long term.
Earlier, the Quetta Gladiators coach refused PCB's offer, citing family commitments and other plans.
Following Watson, the Peshawar Zalmi coach also took him back from the lucrative offer to lead Green Shirts due to his existing contract as ODI and T20I head coach with the West Indies board.
The search for a new head coach started after the dismissal of Grant Bradburn, however, since then PCB couldn't strike a deal with any international player.
The position was temporarily filled by former all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez, who served as both team director and head coach.
However, his tenure was cut short to two months from 4 years reportedly due to the change in the cricket body's top leadership.
The cricket body is likely to recruit a Pakistani coach temporarily for a five-match T20 home series with New Zealand.
