Following the backlash from the public, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has announced sponsoring the top-quality javelin for national star athlete Arshad Nadeem.
A day earlier, the silver medalist revealed that he doesn't have a world-class javelin for 7-8 years. His only international-standard javelin is currently unusable, forcing him to rely on local javelins that carry a risk of injury.
The revelation from the prominent javelin thrower came just a month ahead of the Paris Olympics.
"If you train with local javelins and participate in the international competition with the world standard javelin, it makes a difference in performance,” he said.
"I've been training with a local javelin for the past 7-8 years," he added.
However, DG PSB Shoaib Khosa took notice of the reports and announced to provide Nadeem with an international-standard javelin.
Talking to a private news channel, the sports body head said Arshad Nadeem is the national hero of Pakistan and that PSB will support him for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
"He can take [javelin] how much he wants and the board will pay for this," Khosa added.
