Overcast skies with possible rain could affect today's high-octane Pakistan-India T20 match in Colombo, with Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology warning of scattered showers that may disrupt or delay play.
Weather officials have identified a developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, increasing the likelihood of rain in the Colombo area.
Media reports, citing AccuWeather, suggest that there could be two short spells of rain around 5pm. Despite the threat, the match is still expected to proceed, although under cloudy skies.
Temperatures are forecast to remain near 27°C, with humidity levels in the low to mid-70 percent range. Most weather models indicate the heaviest rain may fall before the scheduled 7pm start, which could delay the toss or reduce the number of overs. Conditions are expected to improve somewhat after 8pm, though brief showers may still occur later in the evening.
The heavy cloud cover could limit natural light and influence how the ball behaves, posing challenges for both batters and bowlers.
