Shan Masood is likely to be removed as Pakistan’s Test captain after a crushing defeat against England in the first Test match in Multan, according to multiple reports.
The loss was one of England's most dominant performances in recent years as they won by an innings and 47 runs.
Spinner Jack Leach grabbed four wickets to help England beat Pakistan by and innings and 47 runs in the first Test in Multan on Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Shan Masood has become the first captain in the Test cricket's history to start his captaincy tenure with six consecutive Test defeats.
Several reports suggest that the PCB is planning to replace Shan Masood as captain.
According to a source close to the PCB, three players have been shortlisted as potential successors which include middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, and all-rounder Salman Ali Agha.
The board is expected to make a decision after end of England series.
Earlier today, the Pakistan Cricket Board has made changes to the national selection committee following Pakistan’s humiliating defeat against England in the first Multan Test.
As per the PCB press release, the new selection committee now includes Aleem Dar, Aqib Javed, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali and Hasan Cheema as voting members.
