Star mountaineer Shehroze Kashif has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the youngest Pakistani to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres.
Known as 'Broadboy,' Shehroze achieved this remarkable feat on Wednesday by summiting the 8,027-meter-high Shishapangma. The 22-year-old mountaineer reached the summit earlier this morning.
He is now the second Pakistani, after Sirbaz Khan, to climb all 14 of the world's highest peaks. Sirbaz earned the distinction of being the first Pakistani to do so just last week by also summiting Shishapangma.
It is pertinent to mention that Shehroze narrowly missed this milestone last year due to an accident on Shishapangma.
Had he succeeded then, he would have become the youngest person in the world to summit all 14 eight-thousanders.
In 2019, Shehroze's journey to this incredible success took off when, at only 17, he scaled the 8,047-meter Broad Peak, a feat that earned him international acclaim.
Later in 2021, he climbed Mount Everest, Manaslu, and K2. The following year, he summited Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Nanga Parbat, and Gasherbrum I and II.
His remarkable journey continued last year with successful climbs of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Cho Oyu.
Speaking to the media regarding his achievement, Shehroze expressed his gratitude and joy and highlighted the immense challenges he faced.
"I knew it would be extremely difficult, and the risk to my life was real, but I stayed focused on my goal,” he said.
“Now that I’m here, I realise this accomplishment is about more than just climbing mountains. It’s about conquering fear, doubt, and limitations. For me, this is nothing short of a miracle," the young Alpinist added.
The BARD Foundation supported Kashif in his adventurous endeavors. Abdul Razak Dawood, the founder of BARD, expressed his joy and excitement in Shehroze for making Pakistan proud internationally.
