Security guards allegedly beaten following a dispute over honking in DHA Karachi

According to Bilal Jhokiyo, the society president, the incident occurred during an event when a Vigo vehicle arrived around 1:00 a.m. to pick up attendees. Speaking to Dialogue Pakistan, he said the vehicle remained stationary with its horn continuously sounding, disturbing nearby residents.

Bilal stated that two security guards, Haroon and Irfan, approached the vehicle and politely requested the occupants not to use the horn, as people in the area were asleep.

Haroon alleged that when he opened the vehicle's door to speak with the occupants, they immediately began assaulting him. He said they then turned to Irfan and beat him severely, causing him to bleed.

"They started arguing with us and then began beating us, even though we were only asking them not to honk," Haroon said.

Bilal Jhokiyo said the housing society has a strict no-honking policy as part of its standard operating procedures (SOPs). He added that after receiving a call from Irfan, he rushed to the scene and asked those involved why they had reacted violently after being requested not to honk.

According to Bilal, the suspects had already left the area by the time emergency responders arrived.

Haroon maintained that both guards were assaulted despite carrying out their duties. Bilal further alleged that those involved displayed a violent attitude and did not acknowledge any wrongdoing.
