"The guard said, ‘I have taken Abidi’s daughter. Do whatever you want,’” claimed Azhar Hussain Abidi, a mosque caretaker, as he accused a security guard of abducting his 15-year-old daughter, Zehra Batool, following a street dispute.
On January 16th, Zehra left a majlis to return home but never arrived. While speaking to Dialogue Pakistan, her father alleged that Azhar Ali, a security guard with whom he had a prior altercation over a local issue, was responsible for her disappearance.
The dispute had reportedly escalated to the point where Mr. Abidi complained to the guard’s employer, leading to Azhar Ali’s termination.
According to Mr. Abidi, days after Zehra went missing, another guard informed him that Azhar Ali had allegedly abducted his daughter. The accused reportedly threatened the father, saying, “Do whatever you want.”
The distraught father has appealed to the police and authorities to take swift action to safely recover his daughter.
This incident comes as Karachi grapples with a series of alarming cases involving minors. In one recent tragedy, a seven-year-old boy named Sarim was allegedly assaulted and murdered before his body was dumped in a water tank near his home to make it appear as an accident.
