Young Hafiz-e-Quran killed during robbery in Karachi's Manghopir

KARACHI: A family in Karachi’s Manghopir area has refused to bury the body of 17-year-old Rosham, who was killed by robbers, demanding the arrest of those responsible before his burial.

Speaking to Dialogue Pakistan, Rosham’s uncle Bakhtiar said that he received a call from the teenager’s father informing that Rosham had been shot and was being taken to hospital.

The family was later informed that the teenager had succumbed to his injuries.

According to the family, Rosham was at home when someone allegedly pushed the door. When he went to check who was outside, the suspects reportedly opened fire, hitting him in the chest and killing him on the spot. Rosham was the only brother of eight sisters and was 17 years old.

The family has been protesting outside the Manghopir police station and said four days have passed without Rosham being buried as they await justice. His uncle said similar incidents had occurred in the area before, making residents feel unsafe.

“We are only demanding justice. We are not asking for cars or jobs; we only want the killers,” Bakhtiar said. He added that the family would bury Rosham once the alleged murderers were arrested and handed over to them.
