Archaeologists in Egypt have made a groundbreaking discovery, unearthing a 3,000-year-old sword believed to belong to the army of Pharaoh Ramses II, who ruled the country during the reign of Prophet Musa (AS).
The finding was announced by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in a press release on September 5.
The excavation took place in Housh Eissa, a city in the Beheira Governorate, where archaeologists uncovered a series of mud-brick constructions.
The ancient structures contained military barracks, weapons, food and equipment storage rooms, providing valuable insights into the lives of ancient Egyptian soldiers.
"In addition to the barracks, numerous artifacts and personal items belonging to soldiers were unearthed," the tourism ministry said.
"[These] artifacts provide insight into the daily lives, religious beliefs, and military activities of the fort's occupants."
Among the discoveries was a long bronze sword bearing a royal seal, indicating its significance as an army sword of Pharaoh Ramses II.
The excavation also yielded a treasure trove of artifacts, including weapons used in war, hunting tools, jewellry, and other items.
Pharaoh Ramses II, one of Egypt's most powerful rulers, reigned from 1279 to 1213 BCE.
"Many scholars believe he was also the pharaoh reigning over Ancient Egypt during the time of [Prophet] Moses [AS]," The Washington Post said.
