The foreign ministers of the UAE, Jordan, Turkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have issued a statement roundly condemning Israeli extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's "appalling, degrading and unacceptable actions" toward flotilla participants held in Israeli custody.
On Wednesday, Ben-Gvir posted footage online illustrating how foreign activists traveling on the Gaza-bound flotilla had been treated.
According to the video, dozens of activists were shown kneeling with their heads touching the ground and their hands bound behind their backs.
Ben-Gvir was shown taunting the flotilla passengers in the video, which was titled "Welcome to Israel," while waving an Israeli flag.
The ministers, in their joint statement, noted that the deliberate humiliation and degrading treatment of flotilla detainees carried out by Ben-Gvir amounts to a despicable and egregious violation of international law, including international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
The statement added that the flotilla ministers roundly condemn and deplore Ben-Gvir's illegal and extremist behavior, including acts of incitement to violence against Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Moreover, the ministers emphasized that Ben-Gvir's provocations foster hate and extremism and are contrary to the promotion of a two-State solution for peace.
