Cairo: Arab foreign ministers have unanimously rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, calling it unacceptable under any circumstances.
According to Arab media, a joint statement issued after a meeting in Cairo—attended by foreign ministers and officials from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, the Palestinian Authority, and the Arab League—warned that such a move would threaten regional stability, escalate conflicts, and undermine peace prospects.
The meeting also discussed measures to ensure the security of Palestinians in occupied territories and promote regional stability.
The ministers welcomed ceasefire efforts in Gaza and the exchange of hostages while emphasizing participation in an international conference on the Palestinian issue and the two-state solution, scheduled for June 2025 under the leadership of Saudi Arabia and France.
The consultative meeting highlighted the need for a sustainable ceasefire, the safe return of displaced persons, and the acceleration of humanitarian aid efforts.
Egypt presented a seven-point agenda on Palestine, which was unanimously agreed upon.
The ministers commended Egypt and Qatar's mediation efforts in securing a ceasefire and acknowledged the U.S. role in the peace process.
Discussions also explored the prospects of a two-state solution and conflict resolution in the region in collaboration with the Trump administration.
Emphasizing a permanent ceasefire, the Arab ministers demanded the immediate removal of obstacles hindering humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza.
They also firmly rejected any attempts to divide Gaza and called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the region.
The meeting underscored the necessity of allowing the Palestinian Authority to assume full responsibilities and reaffirmed the vital role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), rejecting any efforts to marginalize or limit its operations.
The foreign ministers reiterated their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights under international law.
Last week, President Trump urged the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, a proposal that has now been unanimously opposed by Arab foreign ministers.
