Eminent British surgeon Nizam Mamode, who spent time at Nasser Hospital in Gaza during ongoing Israeli military offensive, testified in front of the UK Parliament that the IDF 'deliberately' carried out massacres against civilians including children.

He appeared at the legislature to brief parliamentarians about the current state of healthcare in the Palestinian enclave.

He informed that Israeli droned would come and "pick off" injured civilians and children. "I experienced one to two mass casualty events" a day, in which between 10 to 20 people were killed and up to 40 injured.

He regretted that “If this isn’t a genocide, then I don’t know what is,” adding that Israel was "deliberately killing civilians".

Asked about his experience with injured women and children, the surgeon cited the head wounds from snipers.

"We saw a number of children with sniper injuries to the head, a single shot to the head. No other injuries. So clearly, they were deliberately targeted by Israeli snipers, and yeah, that was day after day," he noted.

The surgeon remarked “I've worked in a number of conflict zones in different parts of the world. I was there at the time of the Rwandan genocide. I've never seen anything on this scale, ever”.

He said there is no escape for people, they can’t really leave. There is a deliberate targeting of medical infrastructure and healthcare workers.

Following the session, Chair of the Committee Sarah Champion said the UK needs to take seriously the prospect of international humanitarian law having been egregiously broken in Gaza.
