President of China, Xi Jinping, made a four-point recommendation to enhance the peaceful co-existence in the Middle East region when he met the UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday in Beijing.

He said that the countries in the region should follow the principles of peaceful co-existence, and that there should be developed an “architecture of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security” for the Middle East and the Gulf region.”

The U.S. and Iran are currently engaged in a war since April 28. The two have been involved in a fierce military conflict, whereby the Americans are using Israeli support to launch an intensive military offensive against more than 5,000 Iranian targets from land, sea and air.

In the span of five days, over 5,000 military sites have been bombed, in what was seen to be aimed at eliminating the threat that the Iranians pose to Israel.

However, the military operation has not yielded much information, and analysts fear that the consequences will be dire. The campaign may lead to the closing down of the Strait of Hormuz as well as death of key members of the Iranian government.

Additionally, Xi urged the need to observe the principle of national sovereignty, which means that the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of countries in the Middle East and Gulf regions must be fully respected without compromising their personnel, facilities, and institutions.

Under the principle of international rule of law, he emphasized that its sanctity should be maintained so that the world does not fall into the jungle’s law.

In addition, he called for coordination between development and security issues, and all sides should strive to establish a positive environment for the development of countries in the Middle East and Gulf regions.

On April 10, a fragile and conditional ceasefire was established between the US and Iran, facilitated by Pakistan after several weeks of heated war.

The ceasefire was meant to establish a two-week ceasefire so that both sides would cease to launch large-scale military attacks and open the Strait of Hormuz, even though both sides still had disagreements over the long-term solution to the conflict.
