Israel has been carrying out demolitions in Gaza while the world remains focused on the ceasefire. A BBC satellite imagery survey has shown that over 1,500 buildings have been destroyed, with entire neighborhoods flattened, and the actual number could be even higher.

A report published by the BBC stated that many of the demolished buildings could not be captured in satellite imagery and may have also been destroyed.

The report further mentioned that the demolished structures showed no signs of prior damage that could have caused their collapse.

Images captured from the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023 up to the period around the ceasefire showed no significant damage to many buildings, yet Israel continued demolishing them.

Entire areas have been reduced to rubble, with gardens, orchards, and houses razed. The demolition drive has been advancing on a ‘huge scale’ behind the yellow line, the boundary running along the north, south, and east of Gaza.
