In a disturbing display of Islamophobia, far-right demonstrators in Leeds were filmed mocking the hijab and Islamic prayer (namaz) to provoke pro-Palestine Muslim protesters.

In the viral video, a man and woman could be seen ridiculing Islam's sacred symbols.

"Terrorist, oh I am [a] terrorist," the woman said in a clear attempt to insult and incite the Muslim community.

The incident is part of a larger wave of violent protests and riots that have erupted in England and Northern Ireland following a stabbing attack on July 29.

The attack, which killed three girls aged 6, 7, and 9, and injured eight other children and two adults, was initially rumoured to have been carried out by a Muslim immigrant.

However, the assailant was later identified as 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, a Christian born to Rwandan parents in Cardiff.

Despite the facts, anti-Muslim sentiment has continued to fuel the riots, prompting mosques to increase security amid the violence.

A large anti-immigrant protest turned violent on Sunday (August 4) as rioters attacked a Rotherham hotel housing asylum seeker, smashing windows and setting the building on fire.

Police have arrested almost 90 people after skirmishes broke out in numerous cities, including Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Blackpool, and Hull, as well as Belfast in Northern Ireland.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has condemned the violent rioters as "far-right thuggery," warning that those involved will "regret" their actions.

"I guarantee you will regret taking part in this disorder, whether directly, or those whipping up this action online and then running away themselves," the premier said

“As a nation, we will not tolerate criminal behaviour, dangerous extremism, and racist attacks that go against everything our country stands for.”
