Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that Operation Sindoor was merely “a trailer,” adding that India would “teach Pakistan a lesson on how to act like a responsible nation” if a conflict arises again.

Speaking during a Q&A session at an event, Gen Dwivedi noted that every military operation offers key lessons, and Operation Sindoor was no exception.

“It was just a movie, and the trailer would begin only after the war was halted at 88 hours,” he said. “We do not know how future situations will unfold, but we are fully prepared.”

He added that decision making during the operation was not always timely, saying: “The window for making decisions is very small. We must take decisions at every level, and everyone involved should be capable of responding according to the situation.”

The Army Chief further stressed the need for stronger integration between the Army, Navy, and Air Force, noting that better coordination and communication directly enhance operational outcomes. “Today’s war is multi-domain. We must all work together to fight effectively,” he said.

Referring to lessons learned after setbacks against Pakistan, he stated that India must improve its response to drone threats, including whether to open fire, intercept, or neutralize them using alternative systems.

“We must also assess how long a conflict could last and ensure we have sufficient weapons to sustain a prolonged war,” he added.
