Germany announces immediate termination of Afghan Refugee Program

The German government has announced the immediate termination of its Afghan refugee program.

According to foreign media reports, the decision was taken in view of Afghan refugees’ involvement in criminal activities and serious security concerns.

German media report that authorities have refused entry to 640 Afghan refugees who were awaiting permission to enter the country.

The German Ministry of the Interior stated that the prospects for Afghan refugees currently waiting to travel to Germany have effectively come to an end.

Media reports further noted that the Taliban’s hardline policies in Afghanistan have compelled the international community to limit diplomatic engagement with the country.

Arab media sources reported that Germany deported Afghan nationals over 28 criminal cases in 2024 and 81 cases in 2025.
