The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has confirmed the martyrdom of its military wing Al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson, Abu Obaida.
In a video statement released today, the new spokesperson of Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed the deaths of Abu Obaida and other commanders of the brigades.
The spokesperson also confirmed the deaths of Al-Qassam leaders Mohammed Al-Sinwar, Raed Saad, Mohammed Shabana, and Hikam Al-Issa in Israeli attacks.
In the statement, Abu Obaida was identified by his real name, Hudhayfah al-Khalut, while Mohammed Al-Sinwar, brother of Yahya Al-Sinwar, was confirmed as having led Al-Qassam following the martyrdom of the previous head, Mohammed Al-Daif.
Hudhayfah al-Khalut had served as the head of Al-Qassam’s media wing, Al-I’lam Al-Askari, and had acted as the brigades’ spokesperson for over 20 years, modernising and structuring their media operations.
The new spokesperson stated that Hudhayfah al-Khalut left behind his nom de guerre ‘Abu Obaida’. Hamas’ official statement also referred to the new spokesperson by the same name.
It is noteworthy that Israel had claimed to have targeted Abu Obaida in August of this year.
