The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has stated that retrieving the bodies of Israeli hostages from destroyed tunnels in Gaza could take time.
According to foreign news agencies, under the Gaza peace agreement, Hamas has so far handed over the bodies of 10 Israeli hostages to the Red Cross, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that Hamas must return all remaining remains of hostages.
Hamas explained that the recovery process is slow because several bodies are buried in collapsed tunnels, while others are still trapped under rubble.
The group added that special equipment is required to retrieve them, but Israeli restrictions have made it difficult to access the necessary machinery for debris removal.
A day earlier, Hamas reiterated its commitment to implementing the Gaza peace agreement, saying that it has already returned the bodies of those hostages it was able to locate, while efforts to recover the rest are ongoing.
