“I am mother of 10 martyrs, world has abandoned us” says elderly Palestinian woman

An elderly Palestinian woman expressed her disappointment with the world for remaining silent on the Israeli genocide, stating that life in Gaza is plagued by siege and death.

Journalist Hossam Shabat spoke to the woman as she was fleeing northern Gaza on foot, after the Israeli army forcibly displaced Palestinians while intensifying its onslaught against innocent civilians.

The occupation forces have forced residents of Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia to abandon their tents and move to southern Gaza without food, water, or belongings.

"We have none other than the Lord of all servants. We have put our trust in Allah alone. I am the mother of ten martyrs, and I am walking tall," the elderly woman told Hossam.

She shared that another woman was walking with her but was struggling severely due to heart complications, saying, "It was killing her."

"Everyone has abandoned us," she added, emphasising that Palestinians have only placed their trust in Allah, in the face of indifference of the world towards their plight.

Describing the conditions in northern Gaza, she said, "Our situation is tragic. Death! Death! Besieged! Besieged! Besieged!" stating that starvation, killings, and oppression by the IDF are taking the lives of innocent civilians.

Residents in northern Gaza have been forced to starve for over 20 days, with essential supplies completely depleted. The southern and central parts of Gaza are also enduring a brutal military offensive by the IDF.

According to Hamas, Israel has killed at least 700 civilians in the north over the past 18 days, since October 5, 2024.

Harrowing scenes of bloodshed continue to emerge on social media, showing men, women, and children severely injured, many bleeding profusely, while others lie dead, missing their body parts.
