India suspends trade, educational ties with Turkiye over Pro-Pakistan stance

India has officially suspended trade and educational ties with Turkiye following Ankara’s unwavering support for Pakistan during the recent military conflict.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the decision reflects India’s firm policy of reassessing bilateral relations with nations that question or undermine its sovereignty. The MEA emphasized that India will not tolerate interference or unsolicited support to adversarial countries.
The rift between New Delhi and Ankara deepened after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s unwavering support for Pakistan, describing the two nations as bound by “brotherhood that very few countries are blessed with.”

His remarks came amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, drawing sharp criticism from Indian policymakers.
As part of the fallout, the Indian government previously revoked the security clearance of a Turkish company operating at several Indian airports.
On the commercial front, a grassroots campaign calling for a boycott of Turkish products gained momentum. Traders in Pune and other regions have spearheaded this movement, urging consumers to support Indian produce instead.
Diplomatic sources indicate that the suspension of educational and trade exchanges is not permanent but will remain in place until Turkey reassesses its stance and engages with India on terms of mutual respect and non-interference.
